Jude 1:11
Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.
After knowing what spots are, and understanding the way of Cain, the Error of Balaam is up next. I’d like to repeat again that if you, or someone else exhibits these traits, he/she doesn’t have spots in his/her life; he/she is the spot. They stain the garment of the Bride (the church).
The Error of Balaam
2 Peter 2:15
They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness.
The whole story of Balaam’s error is captured in Numbers 22 to 24. I’d like to summarize for your easy reading. Baalam was a prophet of God who was sent over/contracted by Balak, king of Moab to curse the Israelites as part of a feud he (the king) had with the Israelites. Despite the promptings he received from God regarding the journey he was embarking, he went anyway. His heart was conditioned for material gains.
People who exhibit traits of Baalam’s error are more interested in what they want to gain while using their spiritual gifts. Their minds are more geared towards gains than impact.
Madness of the Prophet
2 Peter 2:16
But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
Madness of the Prophet in Baalam’s case here means going out of God’s will and claiming it’s His. Thus, deciding to do something yourself, yet faking it to be God’s way. Be careful what you call God’s will when you don’t know or you are not sure. If it is from you, let it be clear to yourself or whoever you are communicating with. Don’t bring God to a place where He has not spoken to you about.
Even though you paid some megabytes going contrary to my free advice, like Baalam, makes you a spot, and then the consequences may come crushing you.
*Don’t follow material gains in the use of your spiritual gifts
*Don’t fake your own wills or decisions as God’s
